"True Blue"
is, unfortunately, remembered less for the rather
lighthearted, sweet song itself, but for its lack
of a good video. In the United States, Madonna
held a contest through MTV to have fans produce a
video for "True Blue." The winners made
a black and white clip set in the '50s, which did
not feature Madonna and most found somewhat dull.
The rest of the world was treated to perhaps
Madonna's least attractive look in any video. Her
grandma-hair, caterpillar eyebrows and tacky
outfit were, well, ugly. The simple '50s set,
featuring a malt shop and an old convertible, was
in front of a bright blue background (get it?)
and featured a few back-up "dancers."
Certainly Madonna has done much better videos. |
